I don’t think I, or anyone, can describe the Eames Lounge Chair better than designer Charles Eames:

The Eames Lounge Chair has “the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman’s mitt.”

Polished wooden veneer frames support firm yet comfortable cushions, richly upholstered in generously tufted, richly pigmented leathers. Slightly angled for a relaxing sit, the entire chair is supported by strong metal legs that ground the chair firmly in its “classic” status.

It may not be the sleekest or even the most modern of the iconic mid-century stars, such as the Tulip Table or Barcelona Chair, but Ray and Charles Eames’ Eames Lounge Chair is certainly one of the most universally appealing. Incredibly popular, this chair continues to be made by the licensed retailers, Herman Miller (North America) and Vitra (Europe), as well as birthing thousands of reproductions.
